Golfito is a quiet town located in the southern part of the country. Years ago, Golfito was known for its extensive banana plantations, as time went by, it became an important tourist destination, very attractive for its natural beauty and biodiversity. This area is surrounded by a tropical forest, and beautiful beaches, is very rich in flora and fauna and you can find a lot of wildlife and vegetation. Some of its main attractions includes The Piedras Blancas National Park and the Golfo Dulce. Golfito is also the gateway to destinations such as Pavones Beach and Zancudo Beach. Pavones is ideal for surfing, is praised among surfers for having the left world's largest wave. Zancudo Beach is famous for sport fishing. Golfito connects with the boarder of Panama, and it also gives access to San Vito de Coto Brus, where the International Park “La Amistad” is located, a rich ecosystem shared between Costa Rica and Panama.
